Open Hands Movie Contest


The Open Hands clan is organizing a contest, whose goal is to make a movie to help new exiles (newbies) with their first steps on the Puddleby island.

The movies must be no more than 5 minutes long. The movies must be submited in Clan Lord Movie format.

[remark: when the contest is over, we will transfer the winning movies into quicktime format so that people who don't have clanlord yet can watch them, and have a good look of what's inside the game.]

The winning movies will contain the following:

  • it must give information helpful for new exiles,
  • it must be entertaining, not boring,
  • the movie must not expose any secrets or quests.

The Open Hands Clan will review all movies submitted and will vote for our choice of the top 4 submissions. From these four movies, the people of Puddleby will be invited to vote for their choice of a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner.

Prizes

The best movie will win a 10000c prize, the second best will win 5000c, and the third 2000c. The runner-up will receive a 500c honorable mention prize.

How to submit movies

To submit a movie, please send it through email to OH_movie_contest@jedman.com, with the following information:
  • Your ClanLord character's name (the prize will be given to him/her)
  • An email address in case we need to reach you (for instance if we can't view your movie and want you to send it again),
The contest is open to all exiles, except members of Open Hands who are prohibited.

The movie can be made by a team, but the prize will go to the submitter, it's up to him/her to split the prize between members of the team.

A person, or team, may enter more than one movie if they choose to.

The vote

Submissions must be received no later than the 21st of April.

Once the submission deadline is reached, the Open Hands clan members will start to review movies, to select the best candidates.

Open Hands will review the submissions and vote for our top 4 favorite submissions by the 1st of May. The decision of the Open Hands clan in selecting these top 4 submissions is absolute and final.

Then three Polls will be organized so that the people of Puddleby can vote for the best, second best, and third best movie winners out of the 4 movies selected by Open Hands.

In each poll, movies will earn points: "best" poll gives 5 points for each vote, "second best" gives 3 points, "third best" gives 1 point. Then it's easy to compute the total score of each movie.

Voting by the populace of Puddleby for the winners out of those top 4 will begin on May 1st and end on May 11th. The winners will be annouced on the Open Hands forum on May 12.
